Xmas Office Ideas!

The festive season is almost upon us and holiday times are coming up rapidly. Most offices close for at least a few days over the Christmas period and some lucky workers get as much as a fortnight off. In the run-up to this time there are many things you can do in the office to prepare in a fun and exciting manner.

Secret Santa

Having a Secret Santa in the office takes away some of the shopping stress as there are no dilemmas over who to buy for or how much to spend. It means every single person gets one (hopefully nice) present to take home and nobody has to go out and spend a small fortune. Early organisation is the key to this one. Get everyone to draw names as early as November to give them plenty of time to think about what to get, make their purchase, wrap it and bring it in. From mid-December have a table or large box set up somewhere for people to leave their clearly labelled gifts then everyone can simply find their own before you close on the last day.

Decorations

Decorating the office for Christmas helps to put everyone in a cheerful, festive mood. It doesn’t have to be too fancy, and most offices will have either a stash of decorations or a small budget to cover buying some. Streamers and tinsel are cheap yet bright and colourful and can be hung almost anywhere.

Food

Even if your company is not the sort to pay for all the staff to head out for a slap-up Christmas meal doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some seasonal fayre. Get everyone involved and draw up a list of Christmas foods that can be enjoyed as part of a cold buffet. Choose a day in December and get each employee to prepare one food item for everyone and bring it in for your very own Christmas lunch that will hardly cost a thing.

Christmas Party

An office Christmas party is one of those things that people either love or loathe. It is generally better to try move the party away from the actual office and arrange to go out for a meal or to the local pub instead. However, not all office party budgets stretch to this. If you do have the party in the office then try to separate it from work. Give people time to go home and get changed and in that time put up decorations to change the feel of the space. Simply shifting a few office chairs to one side will not create a party atmosphere.
