When the weather is not accommodating for outdoor fun, families are required to stay indoors where it is warm and dry. Unfortunately, staying indoors can lead to boredom and discontentment. Thankfully, there are ways to keep kids entertained and have a great family experience even when the weather is nasty outside. Watching a movie together as a family is a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Here are two movies you will enjoy right along with your kids:
Finding Nemo:
This wonderful family movie, created by Pixar, was released in the year 2003. It is a fun and beautifully animated movie that kids and adults can enjoy watching together. Nemo, the star of the movie, is a young clown fish that is caught by a dentist who was driving on the Great Barrier Reef. Nemo is then transported to Sydney, Australia where he joins an interesting family of fish living in the dentist’s fish tank.
Nemo’s Dad is heartbroken at the loss of his son, and the movie follows his trip to Sydney as he tries to rescue his son. The plot teaches a lesson on living life to its fullest. Nemo’s Dad was scared he was going to lose Nemo and did not let him do things for himself. After Nemo is taken, his Dad realizes he has been living in fear. He also realizes how discouraging he has been to Nemo. It is a heartwarming story, thanks to the eventual family reunion, that combines humor and life lessons. It features sharks, seagulls, sea turtles, starfish, a stingray, squid and all kinds of sea life characters.
WALL-E:
This computer-animated movie produced by Pixar was released in 2008. It teaches a valuable lesson to kids and adults alike about the importance of good stewardship in regards to the Earth. WALL-E is set in the future after the earth has been evacuated due to excess waste. The human population lives in an artificial environment on a space ship designed to be temporary. The humans were supposed to stay in space only until trash-collecting robots cleaned up the earth.
WALL-E is the only working trash-collecting robot remaining on Earth. There is a love story intermingled into the plot between WALL-E and another robot sent from the space ship to Earth on a data gathering mission. It is entertaining enough for adults to enjoy, and kids will be enamored by WALL-E and his unique personality.
These are two great family movies to enjoy together on a cold winter day. Pop some popcorn, snuggle on the couch and enjoy some wonderful movies that touch the heart and the mind.
