Stunning star cluster NGC 371, which is shaped like a giant rose, managed to photograph the astronomers from the European Southern Observatory. Is this cosmic beauty in a neighboring galaxy with the Milky Way – the Large Magellanic Cloud, a distance of about 200 thousand light years from Earth.
According to the description, drawn up by experts of ESO, NGC 371 is a region of active star formation, and surrounded by ionizorovannym hydrogen, from which, indeed, and received those “petals” space rose.
In addition to the newborn stars in the composition of this cluster of stars are aging stars and such, whose cycle has been completed. As noted by astronomers in NGC 371 noteworthy is the presence of large numbers of stars with variable brightness.
Fix this cluster was using Very Large Telescope (VLT).
