The BMW intends to submit a public version of its new hybrid concept at the Beijing i8 Motor Show. Many experts believe that the concept roadster has a chance to get on the conveyor, because from a technical point of view it is not much different from the coupe BMW i8.
In this concept i8 retained not only the platform coupe, its power plant and the reinforced carbon fiber body structure, but also original doors, who open in the style of “butterfly wing”. The only difference in the conceptual design of the roadster has a transparent plate that covers the engine compartment.
Under the hood of this concept of plastic i8, it has been installed a hybrid propulsion system consisting of a 1.5-liter turbo motor which rotates the rear wheels and an electric motor driving the front axle. The total capacity of the powerplant makes 350 horsepower, providing acceleration of the concept to 100 km / h in just 5 seconds.
